This delightful little spur off of Mammoth Gulch is often referred to as Mammoth Reservoir as it no longer goes all the way out to Nebraska Hill itself but leads to the site of the old Mammoth Creek Reservoir. The reservoir itself is no longer in use and has been drained. It is now a beautiful meadow and wetlands area along the bottom of Mammoth Gulch with views of James Peak and the surrounding mountains behind it. The trail is very pretty in its own right as it winds its way up and down and back and forth through pine and aspen forest with a few open meadows here and there. There are many campsites along the way if you are looking for a place to base a more extended adventure, however, the area is very popular and the sites fill up quickly. If you are in the area, this little gem is worth checking out.
