16 Road starts as pavement further south towards I-70 and turns to gravel and dirt where this track starts. 16 Road connects several other trails and eventually dead-ends at a private ranch. The route passes several canyons, including Stove Canyon, Garvey Canyon, Buniger Canyon, Hatcher Canyon, Post Canyon, and Upham Canyon. Plan on driving through mixed areas of residential and private property. A portion of the trail is a burnt-out landscape from the 2020 Pine Gulch Fire. The trail offers a few campsites outside of the burn areas.
