Buckhorn Road/Pennock Pass (depending on who you ask) is a maintained dirt road that connects Stove Prairie Road with Pingree Park Road. The trail follows along the beautiful Buckhorn Creek. There is quite a bit of private land on the eastern end of this road, but the western end opens up, showing off expansive views of the Roosevelt National Forest and the surrounding peaks. This road was once a popular artery to access other trails in the area. However, as of 2020, this is no longer the case. The Cameron Peak Fire, the largest fire in Colorado history as of 2020, with 208,663 acres burned, came through the western end of this road. Be mindful of this road's ever-changing private and public land parcels if you choose to camp.
