Lamartine Road (AKA South Spring Gulch) has several spur roads and this short one winds its way through a rutted and rocky area. The trail isn't too difficult but will require a 4x4 as the road is degraded in many spots.
Please note that as of 2022 this trail had a blockage at the northern end of the trail. The Forest Service is aware of this illegal attempt at closure and is working to resolve it. There is a bypass that has formed around the blockage.
