Lower Michigan Hill is a trail to put the whee-doggie in your giddyup. After a short, tame beginning, the trail turns up the hill and becomes a long, steep, loose, rocky climb over 8 to 18-inch loose rocks with a couple of optional boulders thrown in for fun. Pictures do not adequately show how steep and loose this hill is. When you finally reach the top, turn left for a moderate connection to Michigan Hill. Combine this trail with Silver Creek for a great follow-up to Pickle Gulch if you are looking for a little challenge. Although dispersed camping is technically allowed on this trail, there are no suitable sites due to the hill's steepness.
