55 Trail is in the Tahuya State Forest ORV park outside Belfair, WA. The Tahuya State Forest ORV area is a popular 4x4 destination. This park was designed for beginning wheelers up to seasoned trail veterans. Trail 55 is located at the southern end of the park beginning on access road G-3000. 55 Trail has man-made obstacles making it significantly more interesting. The trail undulates with deep opposing holes designed to flex your vehicle's suspension, so be listening for the pop of your springs as your rig is stretched. The 15 man-made rock obstacles spread throughout the trail have a bypass to allow stock vehicles to try these obstacles. This trail is perfect for beginner drivers to gain experience on rocks.

This trail is definitely not a beginner trail. There are many good around, but several deep ruts that are mandatory

Had a great time on the trail. A little tight for a stock jeep gladiator, but do able without any body damage just a whole lot of belly dragging

Went back to Tahuya today for the first time in many months, ended up on Trail 55 and had a great time with its technicality. Felt good to feel the truck flex and work it's way through the trail! Tahuya from what I could tell was pretty much dry this morning in the area I was in at least. And as always it was a ton of fun to be there although i'm pretty sure I was out trailing before anyone was awake lol. Didn't hear any side by sides/quads or motos out there at all. Have fun out there and be safe.

Difficulty Accuracy: Easier

I like this trail as you can choose which of the lines/obstacles you want to do, I hit about half of the obstacles. I ran this trail with a friend who was new to off roading driving a stock 4runner in the rain and he did great. Great for letting different rigs and abilities run the same trail.

Ran South to North. This was one of the first trails we attempted as a stock wrangler 2 years ago, and it kicked our behinds! Revisiting today, as a built rig, it was a cakewalk.

This trail has undergone a new writeup. This trail has changed significantly and has undergone a facelift. It is no longer just a quick connector trail north-to-south. There are many man-made obstacles and most have an alternate route. This trail is designed for more modified vehicles but a stock vehicle can still navigate using the alternate routes over the obstacles. Great work to the Jeep club "Quadrapaws" for this modification.

Had a great time at Tahuya for my first run in our Jeep. The first qualifier going up hill was my first rock climb. A couple mostly stock 4Runners had a difficult time but made it over the qualifier. The Jeep had no issues. The rest of the rocks had bypasses. One of the 4Runners tried some more rocks and high centered, so I was able to try out my new winch!

Ran Trail 55 again south-to-north after the changes made in January 2018 and I must say that I am pretty impressed with them. Due to active logging, Trail 55 is no longer directly accessible from the south end via the access road. You have to go through a small connector trail through the forest that connects to #5 where the trail started for us. There is really only one way in, so you can't miss it. After navigating the qualifier, where a couple of stock rigs got stuck, we made it through the rest. The trail features big holes and axle twisters that will test the flex of your suspensions. Most rock obstacles have bypasses, but some of the simpler ones don't. While stock rigs will do fine, there will be rubbing, bottom scraping and three-wheeling as you make your way through the trail. Caution is advised and always wheel with someone with enough recovery gear and a winch. 35" tires and a 2.5" lift will get you through the trail no problem, albeit with still a few scrapes to the bottom here and there, especially with long wheel base vehicles like a JKU.

Trail 55 received some deserved love lately by the Quadrapaws, the off-road club that sponsors and maintains the park in partnership with the forest service. The improvements make what was before a pretty run of the mill forest trail with no special features, into an interesting challenge for folks that want to up their off-road game. The trail now features about two dozen obstacles of varying degree of difficulty, all with bypasses, so it's totally up to you how far you want to push it. The new additions raise the optional higher difficulty to an 8 according to the Trails Offroad difficulty rating system. Trail 55 has become the perfect trail for new off-roaders to take their game to the next level and prepare for the more challenging trails in the ORV park like Yellowjacket. We ran the trail north to south and it looks like the obstacles prefer to be run the other way, but either one is fine. I was with two rigs, one was pretty well built and had no problems with the different obstacles. The other one was a stock JK Sport with street tires and it made it through many, albeit with some scraping and banging, but nothing broken.
