Located less than two hours from Lake Havasu, Arizona, Maggies Slot Canyon (also known as Red Canyon) cuts through the cement-like red desert earth surrounded by saguaro’s, ocotillo, palo verde trees, and brush. Not far from the mountainous desert terrain, this trail quickly turns off the historic mining dirt roads and into the wash a dozen miles above Alamo Lake. Once in the wash, the walls gradually get taller, creating the deep, narrow slot canyon. There are several knife canyons to hike in and explore along this trail, but none come close to the awe that is Rawhide Wash. Everyone who drives this trail or hikes these canyons will talk about this hidden gem for years to come.
