The value of this trail is in the final 1.25 miles, which has roughly 7 designated campsites. The road is overall graded and well-maintained because of the abundance of oil and gas activity. The first almost 6 miles don't provide any camping or obstacles. You'll arrive at the first designated campsite, # 14, when you notice a turn-out and the brown numbered ground stake.
All of the campsites are walk-in. There is usually room to park 1-2 vehicles just off the road, and then the site is a short walk away. The best campsite is easily # 13, which is spacious with a great view of Salmon Creek. Again, it's a walk-in, so no vehicle camping.
The road ends at a gate, roughly at campsite 8. Unfortunately, this prevents vehicles from finishing the route and connecting with Branch Ridge Road. The gate was placed in 2019 to close a section of Salmon Creek Road due to drainage issues and road damage. There is no estimated timeline for when repairs will be coordinated.
