Overview

Green Mountain is a seven-mile-long, east trending ridge approximately ten miles to the northeast of Granite Falls. It is bound on the north side by Canyon Creek, and on the south side by the South Fork Stillaguamish River. The trail follows a rough forest road to the top of the Green Mountain Ridge that can be doable in most vehicles, but a high clearance SUV is recommended. Scattered with clear cuts, old logging roads, and rock quarries, it isn't the most pristine forest, but it does offer scenic views of adjacent mountains from various viewpoints along the route and several scenic camping opportunities. Green Mountain and the surrounding roads are fairly popular on summer weekends, so a visit here would probably be best enjoyed on a weekday. In the winter this route if popular for snow-wheeling and snowmobiling. At the top of the mountain is a ham radio repeater structure, good views of neighboring Mt Pilchuck, the Verlot and Robe Valley, and at the west end of the route, Mount Rainier.
