Royal Gorge is a narrow wash trail that parallels Park Road 2, passes Helicopter Landing Zone 4, and offers several entry and exit points. The main feature on the trail is a massive, bowl-shaped waterfall with multiple lines ranging from 4-6 feet tall. The only bypass around the waterfall is a loose, 4-5 stairstep climb over 10'' ledges. The northwest end of the trail offers a couple of small, single-ledge obstacles and a rutty rock garden.
Royal Gorge is considered a level 5 road per the park's rating system, but this would be if you attempt the large waterfall.
This trail is suitable for modified vehicles with larger tires and skid plates as they can bypass the most difficult obstacles, but to conquer the biggest waterfall, you will need a highly modified vehicle on 37'' tires or larger and locking differentials.
