Overview

Little Cedar Creek/FR793 is just shy of a mile long, but don't let that fool you, Little Cedar Creek has plenty to offer that could very well take the better part of a day or even the weekend! For instance, there's Forked Mountain, camping by the cave, and Forked Mountain Falls. Forked Mountain has an ancient Romeo & Juliet style legend that goes along with it. It's a tale of two young Native Americans whose love for each other was forbidden, and in the end, created Forked Mountain. It's possible to climb to the top but it's not for the faint of heart. The climb covers 700' in approximately 1/4 mile and the descent is extremely treacherous. The spectacular view from the top is exceptionally rewarding but this trek is dangerous and not for everyone. What is for everyone is the amazing camping area tucked away at the foot of a shallow cave and the leisurely .8-mile stroll to Forked Mountain Falls. This is an excellent area to set up a base camp and explore the multitude of forest roads in the area. Cedar Creek Lake is just a few minutes away and a great place to get the kayak in the water or catch some tasty catfish, largemouth bass or bream for dinner. This is an epic spot in the Ouachita National Forest and should definitely be put on the 'ol bucket list.
