Whittaker Road, County Road 1102D, spurs off Gunner Pool Road in the Ozark – St Francis National Forest. The trail is a secluded out-and-back that is great for wildlife viewing. It is an overgrown road with pin-striping and a jungle feel. There are several large old oak trees mixed among the pines, with valley views along the way. Whittaker Road is definitely the road less traveled. The trail ends at a large field with several large indentions, which appear to be places where deer herd bed down in the evening. There is an established primitive campsite along the road.
